In Tibetan Buddhism, certain years carry profound spiritual importance — when gods, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas gather atop sacred peaks to consecrate them. These mountains become holy sites, their waters transformed into holy lakes and sacred springs. Pilgrims believe that circling these mountains during such years can purify a lifetime of sins, protect them from suffering across centuries of reincarnation, and even open the path to enlightenment.
One of the most revered pilgrimage destinations is Mt. Everest (Qomolangma), whose name means "Holy Mother" in Tibetan. Towering at 8848.86 meters, Everest is not just the world’s highest summit — it’s a symbol of spiritual ascent and an anchor of devotion. Worshippers from regions like Tibet, Qinghai, Kham, and Yunnan journey across vast terrain to honor the divine at its base. Rongpuk Monastery, nestled in Everest’s shadow, is the highest monastery on earth and a gateway to both physical and spiritual exploration.
Holy sites such as Yamdrok Lake, Peikutso Lake, Mount Kailash, and Gang Rinpoche (Mount Kailash) also form part of this sacred circuit. Each turn of the mountain is said to shift karma, cleanse inner poisons, and forge spiritual transformation.
Your journey to Everest Base Camp isn’t just about altitude—it’s about awakening.
